Next Tuesday evening, as things stand now, Obama will make what is likely to be regarded, by history, as the most desperate, pathetic plea for war ever made by a United States president.
On the eve of 9/11…A date of dual significance to Americans, Obama will take his sad, anemic case for striking Syria, in effect, declaring war ON Syria, to the American people in a last ditch and what is most likely to be a deeply flawed and failed attempt, to sway the votes of congress.
The case he is planning to present is that the United States has a “moral obligation” to strike and enter Syria’s civil war and he must, again, try to convince the American people and congress that it was Assad who launched a chemical attack on August 21st but, that will be a tall order as more and more evidence is belittling that argument.
Carla del Ponte, a member of the UN Independent Commission of Inquiry on Syria and someone who should know the truth, has let it be known, in the face of Obama’s claims, that, “Our investigators have been in neighbouring countries interviewing victims, doctors and field hospitals and, according to their report of last week which I have seen, there are strong, concrete suspicions but not yet incontrovertible proof of the use of sarin gas, from the way the victims were treated.”
And then, the bombshell if one can employ that word under these circumstances.
“This was used on the part of the opposition, the rebels, not by the government authorities.”
Obama and John Kerry have told us that it was Assad’s government and Kerry has even referred to “THOUSANDS OF REPORTS” that have been declassified and made available.
It seems, those “THOUSANDS OF REPORTS” are likely in the form of social media and twitter posts from the region and are backed up by no hard evidence whatsoever while, Carla del Ponte, a member of the UN Independent Commission of Inquiry on Syria, tells us that, “This was used on the part of the opposition, the rebels, not by the government authorities.”
It makes one wonder, doesn’t it, just what the CLASSIFIED reports contain that he has shown to only a handful of house and senate members and where, exactly, his “CLASSIFIED” material came from.
Obama, from his setting of the “red line” a year ago to what will be his desperate plea to congress next Tuesday to what is looking more and more like a sound defeat when it comes to a vote in the house and senate, has made a mess of this whole thing.
It’s worse than a mess.
It is a disaster…The ramifications of which will be felt for a long, long time.
From Fast and Furious to Libya to Egypt and Benghazi to Syria…Obama has taken a once feared and respected voice on the world stage and reduced it to the status of a “community organizer” which is now, below what many had considered him to be when he first gained office…An amateur.
Obama’s ineffective first selection for Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton whose greatest achievement apparently was to log more than a million air miles as she missed entirely on everything from the Russian “reset button” to letting North Korea’s Kim Jong Un make a fool of the United States with a handshake and a promise to her treasonous acts in hiring our enemies in a time of war as security in Benghazi and her pathetic “WHAT DIFFERENCE, AT THIS POINT, DOES IT MAKE?” attempts at helping Obama cover it all up and her oblivious reaction to the fact that, under her “leadership” her own State Department Security Team was running drugs and hooker rings in far-away nations, Hillary, on the world stage, was a disgrace.
In the 1970’s, Hillary was fired from the Watergate investigation due to unethical behavior…In the 1990’s, as “First Lady,” Hillary allowed her husband to make a fool of her and, as Secretary of State, she let the world do the same thing.
Now, Obama’s 2nd Secretary of State, a tired old well-worn anti-war demonstrator who traitorously allowed himself to be the pawn of the communist North Vietnamese in the 1960’s has now, strode right off the plank for Obama on Syria by having his melodramatic and VERY public speech a week ago undermined the very next day by Obama followed by his terse responses and fabricated information presented to house and senate committees.
By presenting himself as a war hawk, trying to gin up support from congress and the international community for a military action we have no business in undertaking, John Kerry has made himself suspect on the diplomatic stage.
Should a situation arise, in the next 3 years, where legitimate coalition building become necessary, the rest of the world won’t trust him as far as they can throw him and where diplomacy rather than might is concerned, other nations will turn a deaf ear in his and our direction.
Our allies, already untrusting of Obama will not place trust in Kerry’s actions either as they see him as nothing more than Obama’s puppet and our enemies and the enemies of our allies will exploit the weakness to their advantage.
Iran, Hezbollah and al Qaeda are already doing so by puffing out their collective chests and threatening attacks on America and Obama’s family should Obama attack Syria as they are now, firmly convinced, that the United States is but a mere shadow of its former self.
Acting against Syria with any kind of strike now, will just further embolden them as our enemies realize it would be nothing more than a desperate last grasp at the final straw of world relevance by a dysfunctional and hollow Obama administration.
The next 3 years will be perilous.
Our allies don’t trust us and our enemies don’t fear us.
Because of Obama and his administration, the United States is but a stand-in on the world stage and what little standing we did have, has vanished due to Obama’s Syrian disaster.
Obama’s Department of State rings with lies, corruption and hollow leadership that can employ diplomacy effectively enough to make it’s own way out of a paper sack.
Why, after all, would other nations want to follow those who…Lead from behind?
Why would other nations get out of the way of those with brooms and shovels at the back of the parade?
Has the United States always made perfect decisions on the world stage?
No.
But we have always been able to make course corrections and steer things back to center.
It’s a different story now.
You can’t make course corrections when the ship of state…Is sinking.
Tomorrow, in The National Patriot’s Weekend Edition, I will explore Obama’s options.
